New announcement: OurSpace

You're not a cool teenager these days unless you have a MySpace page. Nor are you a rather uncool trio of 30-somethings trying to emulate cool teenagers if you don't have a MySpace page. So, what I'm trying to say is -- we have a MySpace page. At which we basically point everything back here. Cuz this is our space. And I'll be damned if MySpace is going to take the place of our space.

Coming soon: new material!

It's been awhile since I posted -- went on a quick 4-day vaca to Texas, then suffered from a nasty case of PVFS (Post-Vacation Fatigue Syndrome) and then, well, I just forgot we had a blog.

Some quick news bits:
  • The very first Skeey intern will be making his debut in a couple weeks. Still unsure of whether or not we'll a) let him speak and b) let him post to the blog. May have to call an emergency Board of Directors meeting to hash all this stuff out.

  • My mom is a bit behind on several questions posed by her loyal and astute readers. One in particular, from Andy in Florida, necessitates me buying her two DVDs. Since when does free advice cost me money?

  • Working on a whole bunch of new comedy skits. Hilarious stuff. Don't believe me? We've been running the jokes by Zuzu, and I think her expression speaks for itself.

Clean hands

We went out for our buddy Kerry's surprise 30th birthday this past weekend. After the party, my wife Jen, Gavin, and his wife Alyssa headed into Chinatown for some late night sushi. I went to the bathroom and found this sign a little ironic...Maybe the employees should spend less time washing their hands and more time washing the bathroom.

TEN-HUT!

My attention to my physical health is cyclical. From June-November, I am motivated. I usually go running, head to the gym, eat right, and drink a ton of water. Then Thanksgiving rolls around and the tryptophan leads me stomach first into Christmas. Then throughout Christmas, I feel less and less guilty about rifling down a pound of chocolates followed by a few tumblers of scotch. I eat Doritos without any regard for the 72 grams of fat I am consuming. Then, as the weather starts getting nice again, I begin to realize that my skin is hanging further and further over my belt when I sit down. Walking Zuzu becomes a chore. Taking out the trash turns into cardio. And before you know it, I'm out of shape again. Admittedly it's pretty tough to get motivated when you work pretty crazy hours in a sunless basement. So, I have decided to give myself a masochistic kick in the butt and signed up for one of those "boot camps" like you see on TV. So, for the next 5 weeks, I will be getting yelled at from 6-7:30 am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and partaking in some rigorous Private Benjamin-esque activity (cue Al making some wisecrack about how Private Benjamin is more masculine than I am...so predictable). Anyway, I'll keep you posted on my progress...over and out!

On the other hand, we have the truth

You know how wrestlers have theme songs that get played over the loudspeakers when they come out of the tunnel? It's great stuff, especially Hulk Hogan and "I am a real American". Gets your blood going and you get almost excited enough to put down the Cheetos and start pumping iron.

Anyhoo, where was I? Oh yeah -- CK insists that he has his theme song playing whenever he works. Don't believe me? The webcam never lies.

Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics

Rhode Island was recently given the award for having the country's worst drivers.

Frankly, I don't see it. We just like our space.

And while we're at it....

Happy 35th anniversary to Al & Sue Shaw, the happiest couple I know.

Bad Golf, Good Cause

So we got together yesterday for a great day of golf down in Quonset, RI for the 1st annual Shawn Nassaney charity golf tournament. The rain held off for the whole round of golf, but a cloud hung over our foursome for most of the day. CK was a huge contributor during the round when his tee-shot of 20-feet had to be used during the scramble or when his miss-hit approach shot rolled within 5 feet of the pin. All around it was a great time. Bad jokes flew left and right along with most of our shots. Many thanks to Dennis Valencia for his contributions to the 2 under par effort. Thanks also to everyone who helped in organizing the day and for Sue Shaw's crafty use of the meal tickets that allowed us get an extra plate of prime rib. We at Skeey are already looking forward to next year.

The Weekly Weeblo

Happy June 1st!

Apologies for the lack of posts. Busy, real busy.

To catch up:
  • Having the TV on during the day lasted about....one day. Too distracting. Plus CK insisted on watching "Judge Joe Mathis" and shouting his guesses as to which way the Judge would rule. However, it is great to watch at night and on weekends. Like on Saturday, I came in and had the "Laguna Beach" marathon on (seasons 1 & 2!). I defy you to find better background entertainment.

  • Starting today, our new method of entertaining ourselves is to watch the Showcase Showdown on "The Price is Right". (Okay, so the TV's on for ten minutes.) Each of us guesses the dollar value of both showdowns, and we'll keep track of who's closest. Gavin swept the contest today. Who knew that a living room set, luggage, and six nights in Spain was worth $17,800? Must be some great luggage. From now on I'm just doubling my initial guesses.

  • A new "Ask Al's Mom" question was posted last week. And I've gotta admit -- Aisha stumped my mom! And you haven't lived a full life until your mom sends you the following email:
"Still no word yet from the Sausage Association!"
