Remember your roots

Several people (actually just one) have requested that we honor the band NovaKane with a posting of the original artwork of CK from their first website. *Note: Be careful what you post on the web, the Internet never forgets.

2007 NBA Mock Draft

As a Celtics fan, completing this year's NBA mock draft is like kissing your sister (no offense, Steph), but gosh darnit, go for it anyway. We developed this for Fox Sports New England prior to the ping-pong debacle, and it just went live this morning. Play soon and often.

As an assist, Roy Hibbert and Brandon Rush are no longer in the draft. So if you select them, you're silly.

Go to Fox Sports New England NBA Mock Draft and then click "Start Your Draft."

She's back

My mom tackles a very interesting question today -- how did I become a Yankees fan?

My answer -- good genes and a sunny disposition.

A better question to ask is how did she become a Red Sox fan? Simple - she's not a Red Sox fan. She chooses to be anti-Yankees just to get attention at cookouts. Ask her to name one player on the team and she'll say, "Rick Petrocelli." Lastly, she loves my dad and I (and probably my sister too), so obviously she roots for the same team. Don't let her slick-talk you into thinking otherwise.

Gavin's right, Part II

"Lost" just ended....my man's on fire! 6 for 6. He told me his theory on #5 earlier in the week and I thought he was smoking crack, but I stand corrected. And that, my friends, is why he's the Boss of Skeey.

Gavin's right...

CK's the only guy I know who can leave sweat stains on a thick cable-knit sweater in late January. Thank God he doesn't read the Weeblo and thus will never respond with a comeback.

Lost Predictions

With the season 3 finale only 8 hours away, I am going out on a limb and make a few predictions on what happens. Here are my top 5 with the reasoning:
  1. Charlie dies (It's gotta happen to fulfill Desmond's dream)
  2. Walt appears (Huge loose end from last season)
  3. Locke lives (There is no show without Locke)
  4. Naomi killed (Like the submarine, she is another way off the island)
  5. The survivors get off the island (Desmond's dream about Clarie, We see the future, flash-forward, best "twist" I can think of)
I also think that we won't see Jacob at all. That will be the focus of the upcoming seasons. Enjoy the show tonight.

Microsoft Loves Developers

This is one of the funniest "mash-up" videos that I have seen in a long time. Ballmer sweats almost as much as CK.

Oh Kate Smith, you rascal...

Picture it - Sicily, 1922.

No wait, scratch that. Let's rewind a month to CK's last week in the States. A very hectic week, as he was busy trying to dump all his crap stuff on Craigslist. One of the pieces of crap inventory was an old-school monitor....I mean, we're talking 2002 old school.

Anyway, within hours of posting the ad, a lovely woman named Kate Smith replied and offered to buy it for $500. CK was very excited. I remember it vividly because he said, "Guys, I'm really very excited about this!". They exchanged an email or two and all was cool. He even went to the store, got a cardboard box, some peanuts and got it ready for shipping. Oh wait, he actually had Gavin and I do that. Oh wait, I watched Gavin do it. Regardless, it was ready for her shipper to come get it.

And then....silence. Crickets.

And then....a FedEx package came the following week, during my week-long solitary confinement. The package's return address listed a financial firm from Baltimore, MD, and inside the envelope were three separate money orders for $880 each. And nothing else. No letter of correspondence, or invoice, or receipt, or anything other than three checks. The checks themselves were busy-looking but devoid of any real information. Gordon Giffin was listed on the check, as was the Bank of Toronto, but nothing that really made any sense.

I assumed CK was involved in some off-shore tomfoolery anyway, so it wasn't too much of a concern for me. I let him know about it over IM and he was completely confused as to where it came from. We Googled the name that was on the envelope and there wasn't a single hit for it. As an aside, remember a few years ago when you'd Google someone and you were afraid if their name came up? Nowadays you're more concerned if they don't show up.

CK wondered if the checks came from the lovely Kate Smith, so he shot her an email. She replied back with something like:
Yes, that was me. My financial manager Gordon Giffin mistakenly cut the wrong checks. Please cash those and then send me the difference and we'll be all set. Otherwise, I will have to fire Gordon for his incompetence.
Well even we're not silly enough to fall for that one.....so CK emailed her back and told her he'd throw away those checks and she can send the correct amount, at which point he'll send the monitor.

Silence for about a week, and then she wrote back with:
Sorry, I've been in the hospital and just got out.
And that was the last of the lovely Kate Smith.

I searched Google for "Kate Smith scammer" and discovered that it's been used as an alias before. CK then found a link that describes this type of scam that's going around online buy/sell sites.....namely, scammer offers to buy items, then sends fraudulent checks to seller. Seller sends the item and the difference in cash back to the scammer. Pretty brilliant scam if you ask me.

In fact, I have a bunch of delicious chocolate chip cookies here. I'm looking to sell them. But first, please send me some delicious chocolate chip cookies and five bucks. I'll then send you my cookies and ten bucks. But I really need your cookies first.

Lost & Found

Back from my trip to Italy. It was a great time. I never thought I would lose a belt loop while eating so much pasta, pizza and prosciutto. I guess that is what you get from walking 8-10 miles a day. Also, for those of you who have been wondering where the Internet has been hiding all these years, I found it in Rome.

Random Pope sightings

Gavin and I have had the pleasure of being in the Pope's presence. Probably why we're so blessed. Whereas CK would prefer to meet the lead actor on "House."

B-O-R-E-D

CK in Ireland, Gavin in Italy, me in Canton. Dark cold basements aren't really meant for one person. I might have to go buy a volleyball, smear some blood on it, and start talking to it. However, I'd call him Spalding, and then say stuff like, "You're playing golf today, Spalding."

First person to know the two movies referenced above gets a nice cold Fresca.
