Why is Al a Yankee fan?

Hi Al's mom. Al has been a vendor at our bank for a number of years. Although I enjoy his company, I am disturbed by the fact that he is a diehard Yankees fan. I wondered what traumatic event in his past may have caused this. Thank you.

Dear Jack: I am also quite disturbed that Al is a Yankees fan! I am a diehard Red Sox fan but Al's dad (my hubby of 36 years) is a Yankees fan, and so are all of Al's cousins on his father's side, his nana and his aunt and uncle.
I have tried on numerous times to get Al to switch to "our side" but he remains faithful to the Yankees! I can't think of any instance in his 33 years (almost 33) when he was traumatized. The only minor thing that comes to mind (minor to me) is probably when he lost his Spiderman ring. Al use to wear his ring whenever he had spelling bees at school. He was very superstitious so always had to wear blue clothes plus his Spiderman ring. I guess it worked because he won almost every spelling bee. I even have pictures of him from the newspaper with his trophy.
You and I and everyone at Middlesex Bank must continue to pray for Al that he sees the light!!! Go Red Sox!!!!!!!!!!
