CK - From the Beginning
I suppose it would be fitting to tell you a little about me first...
I was born on January 30th, 1974 at St. Margaret's Hospital in Boston. However, if you asked anyone in my family, they'd tell you my birthday is on January 31st. They always get it wrong. In fact, my sister Sue was the only person to get it right one year. She gave me a birthday card on January 30th and it said "Happy Birthday." I opened the card and she had written, "Happy 26th birthday little brother!". The only thing is, I was turning 25. Oh well, it's the thought that counts.
I'm the youngest of 5 kids (2 sisters and 2 brothers). In order of age, it goes Sue, Jan, Bill, Mike and Chris (me). My brothers used to tease me and tell my I was adopted. One time, I started balling my eyes out and went up to my mother and whimpered, "Ma, Bill and Mike said I'm...sniff...adopted...sniff, sniff". She looked me straight in the eye and said "Do you honestly think after having four kids I'd adopt a fifth?"
I have a really great relationship with everyone in my family. My brothers and I play in a band in Boston called "The Kane Brothers". We used to be called "NovaKane", but changed our name in 2005 at the same time as the release of our second CD entitled "What's Inside".
My brothers and I area super-close. However, like all brothers growing up in a 12x12 room together, it wasn't always that way. Growing up in the Kane house, there was a Circle of Life, or in our case, a Circle of Life and Death. Mike would beat me up, and then Bill would step in and beat up Mike. Much like evolution, 20 years of this delicate balance of power eventually turned us into best friends.
